Commercial Ag Credit Analyst

Job Summary:

The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for the ongoing management of an established portfolio of clients, from origination through to and including viable exit strategy, including assessing and making lending decisions on new and existing mortgage applications in adherence with the established mortgage underwriting policies and guidelines. Also responsible for reviewing required documentation for compliance, accuracy, and completion to advance funds on approved mortgage applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all submitted mortgage applications are underwritten in an efficient and timely manner within the parameters of the company requirements and defined policies.
  • Make prompt decisions on escalated mortgage file matters requiring review and approval as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive underwriting and approval procedures.
  • Implement solutions on a timely basis to address any identified control gaps or opportunities.
  • Evaluate and analyze documentation supplied by clients and mortgage agents to ensure its authenticity and compliance with all aspects of ACMI policies and guidelines.
  • Perform due diligence in evaluating information to ensure the major issues and inherent risks that are critical to a sound credit decision have been identified and all documents are verified.
  • Being decisive by fully understanding the credit transaction, including the risk involved, and making clear and independent recommendations on all Mortgage underwriting and actions.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, commercial appraisals, and current market data.
  • Write discussion papers, when signed back present to Credit Committee for approval/decline and answer any questions that arise on each file.
  • Manage portfolio and renewal deadlines.
  • Solve complex problems which arise in the underwriting process through investigative work.
  • Work in collaboration with Lawyers on new and existing client deals if/as required.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of financial industry experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in Credit/Mortgage underwriting preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Business/Accounting or equivalent related experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze Financial Statements, identify keys risks and provide recommendations in respect to deal structuring as applicable.
  • General understanding of Agricultural Production is preferred.
  • Mortgage Broker License in good standing will be required.
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • In depth understanding of all mortgage-related government and underwriting guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and analytical skills to work effectively within established guidelines.

Valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable personal vehicle required.

VP Business Development – Eastern Canada

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced VP Business Development to lead our Eastern Canada account management activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth through strategic planning, market analysis, and effective sales techniques, primarily focussed in the mortgage broker channel.

Duties:

Broker Relationship Management:

  • Identify key accounts based on potential to refer new mortgages to FLC.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for brokers, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow business volume from broker channels.

Business Development:

  • Prospect and onboard new mortgage brokers to FLC’s lending platform.
  • Conduct regular visits and meetings with brokers to understand their needs and present suitable mortgage products.
  • Lead sales initiatives to meet revenue targets.

Sales and Marketing:

  • Participate in the planning for conferences, events, sponsorship opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and marketing campaigns targeted at the broker community.
  • Represent FLC at all sanctioned mortgage broker events / conferences.

Training and Support:

  • In collaboration with the marketing team, develop content for training materials including presentation decks, information videos
  • Provide training to brokers on the company’s mortgage products, processes, and policies.
  • Resolve any issues or concerns raised by brokers promptly and effectively.

Performance Tracking:

  • Monitor and report on the performance of broker-sourced business.
  • Use the company CRM tools to track broker activities, sales pipeline, and conversion rates.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on business development activities and outcomes.

Skills:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, and account management.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (Zoho) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and industry regulations.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining successful broker relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in commercial banking or financial services, with a focus on agricultural lending preferred.
  • Proven track record in client relationship management and external business development.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, essential for building relationships with clients, explaining complex ideas clearly, and negotiating terms effectively.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail is required.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple client relationships simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct.

Business Systems Analyst

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will act as the crucial liaison between our business teams and the technology team, ensuring that business processes and requirements are clearly defined and effectively communicated. This role involves defining necessary changes within our applications, performing functional and quality assurance testing, and supporting software changes and releases.

The Business Systems Analyst will play a key role in articulating business needs, identifying enhancement opportunities, maintaining the backlog for application platforms, managing and tracking issues to resolution, providing training, and acting as the first-level gate between business and technology resources (both internal and external). This includes ensuring effective communication and training for end-users.

Additionally, the Business Systems Analyst will participate in regular analysis of current processes and systems to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience, and ensure continued compliance with evolving industry regulations and standards in all system changes and enhancements. They will gather and document business requirements, contribute/assist in the development and implementation of new products and services, and support the integration of new technologies and platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
